Bose McKinney & Evans to Host Complimentary Executive Compensation Workshop

The law firm of Bose McKinney & Evans LLP in conjunction with Bison Financial Group and Girardot, Strauch & Co will host a complimentary workshop regarding executive compensation and deferred compensation arrangements. The program will take place from 11a.m.-1 p.m. on Aug. 13, at the Kurz Purdue Technology Center, 1281 Win Hentschel Blvd., West Lafayette, Indiana 47906, in Large Conference Room A.

Presenters will discuss various components of executive compensation arrangements and how your organization and its leadership team can harness the benefit of available options. Topics will include: strategic deferred compensation, specific information on tax statutes, qualifying arrangements, safe harbor 401Ks and other basic concepts related to compensation arrangements.

Bose McKinney & Evans Welcomes Brian Jones

The law firm of Bose McKinney & Evans LLP is pleased to announce that Brian S. Jones has joined the firm as an associate.

Jones is a member of the Bose McKinney & Evans Litigation Group. His practice focuses on complex litigation and arbitration matters in the areas of life, health, disability, property and casualty, and professional lines insurance and reinsurance; securities; commercial leases; and construction.

Jones received his Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, in political science and his Master of Arts in teaching from Trinity University, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He received his doctor of jurisprudence degree from the University of Texas School of Law, where he was the director of communications for the Legal Research Board and a member of the Phi Delta Phi Honor Society.

Jones is a member of the State Bar of Texas, a former member of the Pro Bono College of the State Bar of Texas, and is licensed to practice before all state courts in Texas. He is included in Super Lawyers Rising Stars® 2010 (Business Litigation).

Bose McKinney & Evans to Host Complimentary Succession Planning Workshop

The law firm of Bose McKinney & Evans LLP in conjunction with the Butler Business Accelerator will host a complimentary workshop regarding business succession planning and wealth protection. The program, Business Succession Planning for the Entrepreneur, will take place from 8:00-10:30 a.m. on Aug. 10 at Butler University, 4600 Sunset Ave., Indianapolis, Atherton Union, Room 326.

Attorney R.J. McConnell, chair of the Bose McKinney & Evans Estate and Wealth Transfer Planning Group, will discuss several topics of interest to business owners including: issues management, financial reporting, protecting proprietary information, choosing a successor, value drivers and exit strategies.

McConnell is a partner at Bose McKinney & Evans and assists privately owned businesses, health and life sciences industries, as well as publicly held companies, in the areas of succession planning, mergers and acquisitions, business organization and financing. He has also written and lectured extensively on these matters.

Hamilton to Present on Health Reform Impact at Indiana Continuing Legal Education Forum Seminar

The law firm of Bose McKinney & Evans LLP is pleased to announce that attorney James Hamilton will speak at the Indiana Continuing Legal Education Forum’s seminar on the impact of federal health reform.

The program, Health Care Reform: Is It Constitutional? What Do Attorneys Need to Know?, will take place on July 22, from 8:55 a.m.-12:15 p.m., at the ICLEF Conference Facility, 230 East Ohio Street — 5th Floor, Indianapolis, IN 46204. Hamilton, one of three speakers scheduled to present, will address issues of particular interest to legal practitioners including: individual mandates and penalties; coverage extensions to dependent children under age 26; small business tax credits; new Medicare payroll taxes on wages and investments; and new tax filing requirements.

A partner in Bose McKinney & Evans’ Business Services and Tax Groups, Hamilton engages in a broad-based practice covering health and welfare arrangements, insurance, executive compensation and federal and state taxation.

Hamilton is a frequent author and speaker and has delivered more than 150 speeches to professional organizations and clients since joining the firm in 2001. He earned a bachelor’s degree with distinction from Cornell University, his law degree, cum laude, from Indiana University-Bloomington and LL.M. in taxation from New York University Law School. Two Bose McKinney & Evans Attorneys Named Distinguished Barristers

The law firm of Bose McKinney & Evans LLP is pleased to announce two partners have been named Distinguished Barristers. Robert B. (“Bob”) Clemens and C. Daniel Yates were named recipients of the Distinguished Barrister Award by Indiana Lawyer in its annual Leadership in Law recognition program. Distinguished Barristers demonstrate leadership in the profession and in their community service, and have done so over the length of their careers.

Clemens’ practice primarily involves jury trials in significant commercial litigation and catastrophic personal injury cases. He serves as Indiana counsel to numerous insurers and transportation entities. A graduate of Notre Dame Law School, Clemens undertook his legal education after a successful military career as an infantry officer.

Clemens is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers (FACTL). He is an advocate member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) and past president of the Indiana Chapter of ABOTA. Clemens has also been board certified as a Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocates (NBTA) since 1994, has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America® since 2003, has been voted among Indianapolis Monthly Magazine’s “Indiana’s Super Lawyers” since the first edition and has been included among “Indiana’s Leading Attorneys” in Indiana Business Magazine.

Lang is a member of the Bose McKinney & Evans Real Estate Group. His practice focuses on commercial real estate law, corporate law, shopping center law and commercial lending law. Lang also represents commercial clients in connection with real estate property tax appeals.

Residing in Indianapolis, Lang received his Bachelor of Arts degree cum laude from Ball State University. He received his doctor of jurisprudence degree summa cum laude from the Indiana University School of Law – Indianapolis

Lang is a member of the State Bar of Indiana, is a former deputy assessor for the Perry Township Assessor in Marion County, and is licensed to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana.
