Stucky Participates in Greening of the Indiana Memorial Union

The law firm of Bose McKinney & Evans LLP is pleased to announce that partner Natalie J. Stucky is participating in the Greening of the Indiana Memorial Union on Indiana University’s Bloomington campus.

The Greening eco-charrette will take place on Dec. 2-3 to look for ways to make the iconic structure more energy, water and resource effective while retaining its historic charm.

Patterned after other famous eco-charrettes, such as the Greening of the White House, the Greening of the Pentagon and the more recent Greening of the City County Building in Indianapolis, this charrette will be facilitated by national and local experts in collaboration with IMU and IU administration and staff. Because of its location and purpose, it will also include student participation.

The Greening of the IMU will be facilitated by Hellmuth+Bicknese LLC with the Leonardo Academy. Both firms helped write the LEED rating system. Sponsored by a grant from the Duke Energy Foundation, this charrette will explore cost-effective ways for the IMU to green its operations and maintenance processes using LEED for Existing Buildings Operations and Maintenance as a framework.

Stucky has received her accreditation as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED AP). According to U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) records, Stucky was the first attorney in Indiana to achieve LEED AP accreditation.

Stucky is a partner in Bose McKinney & Evans’ Real Estate and Financial Institutions Groups and leads the firm’s Green Initiatives Group. She concentrates her practice in real estate and lending and has substantial experience with a wide variety of transactions, including sales and acquisitions, 1031 exchanges, leasing, development and construction, and financings, restructurings and refinancings.

As a LEED AP, Stucky’s role is to advise clients on all aspects of green building, from weighing the costs and benefits of green and sustainable building projects, assisting with site selection and acquisition, providing guidance through the LEED certification and appeals processes, advising on alternative green building rating systems, negotiating and drafting contracts for the acquisition, design, construction and leasing of green projects, and helping clients identify and obtain funding, incentives and other resource options available for green projects.

She also has experience with environmental issues related to real estate transfers and financings including underground storage tank regulations and the Indiana Responsible Property Transfer Law.

Stucky received her bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and her law degree, magna cum laude, from Indiana University-Bloomington.

She is a member of the Indianapolis and Indiana State Bar Associations, as well as the American College of Mortgage Attorneys, the Indianapolis Chapter of CREW (Commercial Real Estate Women) and the Indiana Chapter of the USGBC.
