Barr Selected for Continuing Legal Education Committee of Indianapolis Bar Association

The law firm of Bose McKinney & Evans LLP is pleased to announce that attorney Kellie M. Barr has been selected as a member of the Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Committee of the Appellate Practice Section of the Indianapolis Bar Association (IBA).

The IBA is a group of nearly 5,000 members, who make up the core of the central Indiana legal community. This active population of attorneys, judicial, paralegal and law student members is voluntary and offers over 100 live CLE programs yearly featuring timely topics, knowledgeable presenters and convenient times.

Barr is an associate in Bose McKinney & Evans’ Litigation Group, assisting clients with commercial, business and appellate disputes. Previously serving as a judicial law clerk for the Hon. John G. Baker, Chief Judge of the Indiana Court of Appeals, Barr’s duties included researching and drafting appellate opinions, observing oral arguments and analyzing issues spanning the legal spectrum. Barr writes appellate civil case updates for the legal magazine Res Gestae and co-authored the 2009 appellate procedure update for the Indiana Law Review.

Barr earned her law degree from Indiana University School of Law – Bloomington, where she was the champion of the 2004-2005 Sherman Minton Moot Court Competition, an articles editor for the Indiana Law Journal, a class representative for the Student Bar Association, and the Chief Justice of the 2005-2006 Sherman Minton Moot Court Board. Prior to law school, Barr received a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and speech & hearing sciences and a minor in Spanish from Indiana University.

Currently residing in Indianapolis, she is a member of the Indiana State Bar Association, the Indianapolis Bar Association, and volunteers for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana.

Bose McKinney & Evans Wins Award for a “Bear” of a Donation to Local Government Program

The law firm of Bose McKinney & Evans LLP is helping to warm the hearts of area children by donating the most bears to the Teddy Bear Challenge, sponsored by the Indianapolis Bar Association Paralegal Committee. The “bear” of a donation goes to the Bears on Patrol outreach program through the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD), Indianapolis Fire Department (IFD) and Marion County Sheriff’s Department.

This year, Bose McKinney & Evans received “The Most Bears” award for collecting 1,945 stuffed animals for the cause, which is more than the total collected from all firms last year. Altogether, more than 4,000 stuffed animals were donated to the three departments.

Todd Speaks on Buyer Survey Issues at Indianapolis Bar Association Seminar

The law firm of Bose McKinney & Evans LLP is pleased to announce that attorney Harry F. Todd will present at a seminar on “Checklists for Indiana Real Estate Lawyers,” hosted by the Indianapolis Bar Association.

The seminar will take place Friday, December 4, 8:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Indianapolis Bar Education Center, 135 N. Pennsylvania, Suite 1500. A light breakfast will be provided. Todd will speak specifically on survey issues for the buyer.

Attendees will listen to experienced real estate attorneys talk about common documents and issues for which clients seek services. They will provide the answers and the rationale for how to represent the buyer or the seller in a purchase agreement, the landlord or the tenant under a lease, the owner under a listing agreement with a broker, how to address title and survey issues for a buyer and scrutinizing the residential purchase agreement form.
